Self-Improvement

Every new year, I always start to think about behaviors that I would like to change or improve on. Like most people do, I try to make new year's resolutions to improve my overall health and well-being. There are times when I achieve these resolutions, times when I come close to achieving them and then there are times when I give up on them altogether. This year I would like to make changes to my diet, my personal relationships, and my career.

Eating healthier

The year 2023 brings another year that I get older but this one is exciting for me. This year I am turning thirty years of age and I have been looking forward to it. For the past few years, my weight has fluctuated tremendously. For a few years, I felt that I was way too skinny and now I feel like I am gaining too much weight.

I have been with my partner for almost a year now and we both enjoy having breakfast before work and dinner after work during the week. Our problem is that we usually make a heavy meal for each other which is not always a good thing. I also get off work very late, so I am not having dinner until about 8:30 pm. I feel that having these late dinners is making me gain weight because I am not being active or burning off the calories before bed.

In the new year, I want to challenge my partner and me to make lower-calorie meals for one another. I also want to challenge myself to start having dinner at work before I get off, so I am not eating so late every day.

Building better relationships

This upcoming year I want to work towards building stronger relationships with the ones that I love. I have a very close relationship with my mother, but I do feel like my sisters and I can be closer. One is about to turn 21 and the other is now 23 years of age. I have been hanging out with all of them more lately and I have really enjoyed spending time with them.

It is usually my mother who asks me to hang out with them but moving forward I want to plan more family outings like brunch or a barbecue. As I get older, I want to ensure that my family stays close and continues spending quality time together on holidays, birthdays, and weekends. I need to stop feeling like I am bothering people whenever I call someone and make sure that they know I am thinking about them and want to see how they are doing.

Working on my career

My last resolution is to continue my career path and make sure that I continue to love the work that I do. There are times when work can be stressful, especially when you are in a leadership role. I want to make sure that I wake up every day with joy to come to work and make sure that I take the necessary vacation days needed to refresh my body.

I would also like to branch out this upcoming year and write on a few new topics for all of you. I hope you all continue to relate to me through my articles and you all have a blessed and happy year.
