Found out I was positive three weeks before partner passed of pancreatic cancer. He had been positive for over a year and didn't tell. Leading up to that point, I made choices to keep him happy instead of making myself happy. When you put your happiness in someone else's hands...you lose yourself.

Taking my life back

Being single again sucks, but I hope to meet and develop a healthy relationship with truth and sobriety. Time to live life again.

Hi dray, thank you so much for sharing a part of your story with us. We are so grateful to have you in our community. I am sorry to hear about your partner's passing. However, I think many others can relate to your struggle with balancing your own needs and wishes with someone else's, especially someone who is ill. Despite all of this though, I'm glad you are able to take your life back and develop new relationships with others, truth, and sobriety. All wonderful things. Alafia (Peace) Dray, Losing a partner is rough. I want you to know that you are the Ocean and the emotions and feelings are the waves. The waves will come and go but you can handle them because the Ocean is much bigger than to waves.

I am doing well. I have not found a new relationship, buy its not for the lack of trying. It's still difficult at the time of status disclosure, but it's getting easier. Nobody has outright rejected me on the basis of status. Living where I do with my schedule I'm encapsulated in my own little world, which leaves the opportunity to meet people, online mostly. That has definitive pitfalls, but I'm not giving up! Hope all is well with you
