Afraid of being infected

Dear,

I (male) had two massages on my vacation which ended with a happy end via hands. Both times I got a very brief oral sex from them. It was never more than 10 seconds as I didnt feel comfy at both times so they continued with their hands.
Now i made a pcr urine test for STDs and it turned out that I have two bacteries: 1. ureaplasma pavum 2.Gardnerella vaginalis

Now I am totally scared that i could have caught HIV from this massage sessions.
Can you please advice. I am even afraid to take a test

  1. I'm so glad you asked because it can be stressful tackling these questions. It also gives me a chance to clear up some misinformation that is out there about HIV. I know it can be hard to get the right information so I hope this helps.

HIV can be transmitted through five bodily fluids including breast milk, blood, precum, semen, and vaginal secretions. It cannot be transmitted through saliva, and in the case of transmission through oral sex, the risk is at the lower end of the spectrum compared to unprotected vaginal or anal sex. You can definitely learn more about the specifics which may ease your mind through this article: https://h-i-v.net/transmission .

That being said, the CDC recommends everyone get tested regularly. If you haven't ever had an HIV test, you can find more info about it here: https://h-i-v.net/living/testing-quiz . Does that help to give you a place to start? I am sorry you are dealing with these STIs and feeling so scared, I hope we can provide some peace of mind and information that can help. - Liz (Team Member)

    1. Alafia (Peace) Thank you for reaching out to us. I totally understand y I urge fear of getting an HIV test. However, it is the only way to know for sure if you are now living with HIV. We hope you find it in yourself to go and get tested. Perhaps take a good friend with you. Khafre (H-I-V.net Team Member)
