Do antidepressants affect testing?

Does taking Antidepressants SSRI's during the whole HIV window period of 90 days daily affect the HIV Antibody production like suppressing or stoping the HIV Antibody production due to which 3rd generation HIV Antibody test can't detect the HIV Antibodies?
Because this study shows some interaction between HIV and Antidepressants SSRI's

  1. Hi . This is an interesting question. I also found this study published six years later which found that SSRI treatment "downregulates HIV receptor and coreceptor expression and thus may reduce susceptibility of immune cells to HIV infection and decrease inflammation:" https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4862937/. The authors of this study call for trials to see if SSRIs could be used adjunctively as an HIV treatment. What I did not find is any research discussing the impact of SSRIs on HIV testing. I did find a someone asking this same question several years ago (see: https://i-base.info/qa/14818) with someone answering that it should not effect the testing, but there is no scientific explanation as how this was known. One would think that if it was a concern research would have been conducted on this issue. That said, as we are not medical professionals, I cannot verify whether or not there could be an impact. 1. i mean this study was published in 2010 did you find it in 2016?

  2. On which website did you find this study 6 years later?

    1. Hi . The study you cited is also cited in the second link I provided in which someone asked the same question as you. The first link I provided is to a completely different study published in 2016 on the impact of SSRIs on HIV receptors and the potential as a treatment. You will note that, while similar, the titles are different and the authors of the study are different. Hope this helps. Best, Richard (Team Member)

  3. Alafia (Peace) That is a difficult question to answer. It sounds like you may need to consult with a medical expert. Good luck. Khafre (H-I-V.net Team Member)
