Confirmation of Transmission Routes - When?

hey everybody,

just wondering if anybody knows which was the first peer reviewed contribution (be it a poster at a conference, or preferably of course paper in a journal) that conclusively established the transmission routes that HIV has at its disposal and thereby also dispelled all alleged spurious ones, e.g. through aerosols. Any hint much appreciated! 😀

  1. and by conclusively I mean of course that that contribution‘s authors by all good scientific standards could with good conscience claim that they’ve established them

    1. Hi ! This is an awesome question! I don't know the answer to this, but I also wonder if it isn't just one contribution? I would imagine this is something that has been evolving over time. Perhaps one group suggesting its not aerosolized while another dispelling saliva, and so on? Maybe someone will know the answer to this, but I'm going to poke around in the meantime, too! Is there a specific reason you're looking for this information? I'm so curious! -Casey (Team Member)

      1. yes! Most definitely. Then let’s rephrase like so: the first such publications for each of the known transmission routes (or for each of the known non-transmission routes). Or maybe “the one” that through meta-analysis of other studies and their sets of data could then give the first comprehensive list.
