HIV paranoia

Hey to you all.

I had protected sex with a woman (ONS with a foreigner girl) with unprotected oral.

After some days I had a fungal infection in the groin area but before I went to the dermatologist, after getting ‘assistant’ from Google i ‘diagnosed’ my self with herpes, syphilis, chlamydia etc.

After the correct diagnosis from the dermatologist, it stacked in my mind that I was in danger from HIV after the unprotected oral I was given.

You wont believe what an expert I became in HIV diagnosis in the days forwards.

I was waking and sleeping and in my mind I was infected with HIV. That ate me alive, believe me.

So, in the day 23 to 24, I went and had a HIV rapid test which was negative. The people there told me that after 3 weeks, with the test I had I didn’t have to worry anymore.

But guess what. For the next 3-4 hours I was relaxed, but then the HIV terror kicked in again.

As I read in countless websites, it’s a good sign that I was tested negative after nearly 24 days with HIV rapid test, but the window was still open.

So at the day 27 to 28 from the exposure, I went and had a 4th generation laboratory test with blood from vein.

That came in also negative. And as I read, at 4 weeks a 4th generation test is almost conclusive.

But, you guessed it… The fear kicked again. So today, at at the 34th day, i had another 4th generation test that also game back negative.

What I want to ask you is this. Should I continue my HIV terror and put my self in this ‘dangerous’ area and then go an test again?

Or should I say this is enough, those test I made are conclusive, don’t think again for a new test and live a happily non HIV life?

Thanks in advance.

  1. Alafia (Peace) I would suggest you get tested again in three months time. After you receive those test results you can rest comfortably. Khafre (H-I-V.net Team Member)

    1. Hi , I'm glad you reached out. This is certainly an overwhelming feeling and I can understand why you're fearful!

Unfortunately, we are not medical professionals, so we cannot give out specific medical advice over the internet or interpret test results. But, as my teammate, Khafre mentioned, it is never a bad idea to get retested if you are still concerned! You can also talk with your doctor about some of your fears to see what tests they recommend and when.

In addition, I thought you might find this article helpful on HIV transmission risk, https://h-i-v.net/transmission-risks The risk from unprotected oral sex is quite low. I hope this brings you at least a little peace of mind!

      1. Hi
I feel your fear as I am relatively in the same situation as you. Please share if you can to help me cope with the fear (also help the community).
I too did 4th gen. test after 30 days of exposure and was negative (more on the post I shared), but I have been freaking out so bad I can’t focus on anything.

        1. Alafia (Peace) I am following up to see if you decided to go get tested again after three months. Testing is the only surevway to know our status regardless of how difficult it might seem. Khafre (H-I-V.net Team Member)
