HIV RISK, WORRIED CANT SLEEP

Hello Good morning, i am very worried I feel like I have been exposed to HiV while I was asleep, I am a 21 year old male who never had penetrative sex, however on the 13th of January 2024, I went by a female friend to spend the weekend, at first we was being romantic with each other but we decided not to have sexual intercourse until we get married, is it possible that a male can have penetrative sex without waking up to it? its been 4 weeks and I haven't gotten flu symptoms, just weight lost because am stressing a lot. please I need answers am worried.

  1. Hi . It is clear that you are concerned about what constitutes potential exposure to HIV and there is a lot of misinformation out there. First, I want to note that we are not medical professionals and cannot, for your protection, offer medical advice over the internet. What I do want to share with you is this article from our editorial team on how HIV is transmitted: https://h-i-v.net/transmission. It includes not only information on the bodily fluids that can transmit HIV, but also methods of transmission. Also, the risk from insertive penile-vaginal intercourse is known to be quite low - this other article discusses transmission risks, noting that insertive penile-vaginal intercourse has an estimated transmission risk of 0.04 percent: https://h-i-v.net/transmission-risks. Do you have reason to believe your friend could be HIV positive and is this something you could discuss with them? Also, if it would put your mind further at ease, is there a medical professional you feel comfortable with that you could discuss your concerns? Best, Richard (Team Member)
