I left my meds out in the sun and them put them in the fridge

Hi, I’m on dolutegravir, tenofovir and lamivudine. I (accidentally) left my meds exposed to the sun for an hour and when I realized, they were warm, so i (stupidly) went and put them in the fridge for like 30 min. does somebody know if this has affected my meds in some way? Thank you

  1. Hi . Your concerns about whether you may have damaged your medications due to contraindicated storage is understandable. I need to note that we are not medical professionals and, for your protection, cannot give advice on the continued viability of your medications. There are numerous variables to consider, such as whether the drugs you mentioned are combined as one pill or some other combination of pills, the temperature the drugs reached at either the hot or cold extreme, etc... Even the coating on the particular pills can impact the temperature sensitivity (see here for example: https://hivclinic.ca/patient-information/frequently-asked-questions-on-taking-antiretrovirals/why-should-medications-be-stored-under-specific-conditions/). I know that this response may not feel like much of an answer, but I hope it illustrates the need to check with your doctor or pharmacist for further guidance. Best, Richard (Team Member)
