Just discovered an old flame passed of AIDS

An old flame of mine from the 80's passed of AIDS in 1991
I just recently found out and saw his picture on the AIDS Quilt.
I have had a hard time dealing with this even though it's been a long time.
We grew up in the same town and one block over, but never met until adulthood in a gay bar in Santa Barbara.
Half of me is grateful I wan't around to see him get sick and the other half of me feels guilty not being there. He broke off the relationship which was only a few months long at best. Somewhat Long distance- 60 miles.

  1. I am sorry to hear about your friend and yes it can be hard dealing with these feelings but know there is support hear anytime you want to share.

    1. Alafia (Peace) Its definitely Okay to feel as if you are conflicted about his passing and the fact that you are just finding out. If I can say give yourself a break. Feel his lost and allow yourself to grieve. Khafre (H-I-V.net Team Member)

      1. I am sorry for your loss. When we care about somebody, we do not lose those feelings simply because we go our separate ways. Your feelings are very valid. It is most important that you understand that. We are available whenever you need to vent. I hope you are having a great day. - Heather R (team member)
