HIV Risk Assessment

Hi,

About 6 weeks ago I had an encounter with another guy. For quite a bit, he stroked my penis with his rectal fluids on his hand and definitely touched my penis head. I took an early detection HIV RNA test at 13 days and 36 days post potential exposure and a 4th Gen Combo test at 24 days and 36 days post potential exposure. All came back negative. In the meantime I have developed symptoms of swollen lymph nodes, headache, prolonged sore throat, back/ neck pain. What is my risk for having acquired HIV and what would the advice be for any next step?

    1. Hi , thanks for reaching out. We understand how scary these situations can be, and we want to be a place of support. We cannot give out specific medical advice or read test results over the internet (for your safety!), but it is reassuring that you've tested negative multiple times. However, we do always recommend bringing any new symptoms or concerns to your doctor, just to be sure. The symptoms you've mentioned can be related to a variety of different issues, and your doctor can help you figure out the root cause. Please do keep us updated if you can. We're here for you! -Casey (Team Member)
