So worried

I reviewed a very rough blowjob from a sex worker on Aug 17. I had a dickey on the top of my penis for a few days after and irritation for about a week after. Went to Dr, got tested for the simple sti's all those neg. Shortly after(about the 1st of Sept) my throat started hurting, lymph nodes under my jaw swelled slightly, and I got an awful headache. Mostly those symptoms are still there but subsiding. I am very stressed out by this. Getting tested cost too much for me rn and I'm worried it's just a little too early anyway. I keep reading that oral is very low risk but I (like many) think I didn't dodge the bullet. I also have hsv1 from many years ago but didn't have any open sores or anything. Can anyone reassure me till I can afford the test?

  1. Sorry, spell check wrote top, meant to be tip

    1. Hi . Your instincts are correct about the low-risk of contracting HIV through oral sex. For more information this article from our editorial team discusses how HIV is transmitted: https://h-i-v.net/transmission. Of course, the only way to be sure and, hopefully, put one's mind at ease, is to get tested. This article discusses the various tests and the window periods: https://h-i-v.net/test-types. The tests are not as expensive as you might think and are offered for free at many locations. Hope this information is helpful and please feel free, if you like, to keep us posted on how you are doing and to ask additional questions. Best, Richard (Team Member)

      1. Alafia (Peace) We are not medical professionals but I would say that oral sex is low risk. Was the encounter rough enough to cause a break in your skin? Do you live outside the United States? Why is there a cost for testing? Oh well, I think you will be Okay. However, it would not prevent me from seeking an HIV test. Khafre (H-I-V.net Team Member)
