Testing results and anxiety

I had unprotected sex with a sex worker on 13 December 2022. I have done this with her in early 2022, after which all the results came back negative. But, on 6th January I developed a fever, sore throat and cold. These were treated quickly with some anti biotics.

I thought of getting tested after 8 weeks. CMIA +P24 test for HIV came back negative and all other STDs were also negative.

Should I get tested again as everybody keeps saying the window period is 3 months?

I am also afraid the lab could had given me HIV (Am I too stupid to assume this?)

Some Symptoms include: hives, neck rash, flu, penile pain

  1. Hello, I am always an advocate to test every three to six months depending on how sexually active you are. Have the symptoms went away or are you still experiencing them?

    1. Rash and hives are still there, maybe it is just my gluten allergy reacting. Isn't 4th gen test conclusive at 6 weeks?

  2. , Have you consulted with a doctor about your symptoms? I am glad you reached out to us. Like it's always a good thing to be tested every three months. To address your other concern, why do you think the lab put you in contact with HIV? Please share more details when you have the opportunity. We are here for you. Khafre (H-I-V.net Team Member)

    1. Hey, I consulted the doctor for penile pain and flu. both are good now with some medicines. The lab assistant taking my blood repositioned the tube while it was filling up (may not be a risk) - it is one of the best labs in my city.

Also, isn't CMIA Combo conclusive at 6 weeks? I did test at 8 weeks

      1. Alafia (Peace) So glad to hear that you had the opportunity to see a doctor and get a course of medication. Sounds like you went to a good lab. As far as CMIA Combo we can't answer the question because we are not medical experts. Stay strong. Khafre (H-I-V.net Team Member)

    2. Alafia (Peace) I want to check in on you to see how you are doing. We hope that you are in a good place. When you have the time please check in with us. Khafre (H-I-V.net Team Member)
