Hiv testing anxiety

I visited a hiv clinic yesterday but couldn't summon the courage to go through with the test. I saw someone who lives in the same street I live and we kinda recognized eachother. He just tested positive and was being counselled..He had a support system who was with him throughout the whole process. I don't have any support system, I had to flee.

  1. I'm so glad you posted, because I know you are not alone in feeling this testing anxiety. Especially without a support system, it can be so hard to take that step. I hope you can find some support here within this community. Sometimes knowing what to expect can help. Please keep us posted on how you are doing. We're here to listen - Liz (Team Member)

    1. Alafia (Peace) I totally understand where you are coming from. I had a similar experiences. I had already tested positive and went to the county health department to do an intake to receive treatment. When I got on the floor I saw the mother of one of my best friends. I quickly turned around and never went back. I lost years which I could have received care and treatment. I always spent years in isolation because I didn't go through with it. I could have received resources and support I really needed. I say all of this to say, I suggest you go back and get the services you need. Knowing your status is very important.
