Should I get tested?

So I'm not sexually active (tbh I never had sex before), but I keep getting bumps inside of my lip. I'm worried that I might have an STD and or HIV. Should I still get tested?

  1. I am glad you reached out with this question because I know it can be overwhelming to have symptoms you can't explain.

We cannot provide medical advice, but can provide information. HIV can only be transmitted through five bodily fluids including blood, semen, pre-semen, vaginal secretions, and breastmilk. It cannot be transferred via saliva, sweat, or casual contact. And if a person has a suppressed viral load, they cannot transmit HIV sexually (see this for more details on Undetectable=Untransmittable - https://h-i-v.net/living/uequalsu-prevention-access-campaign

For you or anyone else following the thread, this is a great resource for deciding if you should get tested. It includes a list of situations that may prompt someone to be tested - https://h-i-v.net/diagnosis-testing . Once you take a look at that list, let us know what you're concerned about and we are happy to help you locate and help prepare for a test!
