I have been living with HIV for _ years

This forum is an opportunity to discuss further about how many years our members have been living with HIV. It is giving folks a chance to share their lived experiences.

How long have you been living with HIV? And what has your experience been like?

  1. I have been living with HIV for almost 4 years now, and every day is a different day. Some days I wake up, ready to take on the world, and others. .. I'm too sad to function. I believe it has gotten easier as time has gone by.

    1. I have been positive for 20 years

    2. I hope you are feeling better. If you have access to a pool the exercises in pools are a lot easier on the joints & muscles! Praying you get invigorated💜

  2. Twenty seven years for me

    1. Alafia (Peace) That is so sweet of you to reach out to our member and offer your support and assistance. Good on you. Thank you so much. Khafre (H-I-V.net Team Member)

    2. It sure is 😊

  3. It's been four years for me. It shadows every single day of my life.

    1. Thank you for replying Richard. I am not sleeping most nights. Worry, think, why, how, I don't switch off. Today I'm a walking Zombie. I'm dizzy, no energy, battling to eat - I don't want to socialize. I just want to curl up with my forever loving sausage dog and sleep all day through with her. I don't want to cook. It's so hard. I'm 54 and feel 95. My head is bursting today because I did not sleep last night. Best go and get a pain relief. Much love, and light from sunny SOUTH AFRICA.

    2. Hi . It is understandable that your life would be upended with the unexpected diagnosis and dramatic change in your life. 4. Hello!

I was DXed in 1998. I took the test out of boredom. I couldn't possibly be poz, LoL.

So, I was a lil more than shocked! Now, it's been so long I don't even think about it much. Health is good. I'm 57 now and better off than most folks my age. Poz or not.
