Am I at risk of getting HIV

Hello,

I’m really having a lot of anxiety over an incident that happened last night while I was drinking. I visited a woman off a dating site. I rubbed her over her underwear and it was a bit moist, she rubbed me over my underwear, I finished by masturbating myself. I had some raw areas on my penis due to dry rubbing earlier in the day. We also did some open mouth kissing. My mind is now going crazy and I think that I have contracted HIV, Hep or other STDs. I also had a sore on my leg that I picked a scab on and I may have had her fluid on my hand when I did that, I’m now scared that I may have put her fluid into my blood.

We had NO sex at all, only the above encounter. Should I be worried, I can’t seem to get it out of my head. What are your thoughts do you think I had a HIV/HEP risk ?

  1. Hi . I can tell you are experiencing a great deal of anxiety and it is good that you are seeking information. I need to note that we are not medical professionals and, for your protection, cannot offer diagnostic advice. I do want to share with you this article on HIV transmission risks: https://h-i-v.net/transmission-risks. You will note that the non-sexual acts you describe don't even show up in the article due to low level of risk. This article on common myths about HIV also offers good information on types of contact: https://h-i-v.net/myths-misconceptions. Of course, the only way to be certain is through testing, which is why the CDC recommends sexually transmitted disease testing as part of regular health maintenance for sexually active individuals. Hope this information is helpful. Best, Richard (Team Member)

    1. thanks for the information. This was my only sexual encounter outside of my marriage so I know I didn’t have any STDs before this encounter. From just this encounter would you say not a risk? I’ve heard hiv can’t really spread once exposed to air. Just hoping to ease my anxiety with a little information and move on.

    2. Hi . I can't, as a non-professional, speak on individual risk, as each situation is different. I do want to share with you this previous Forum on how long HIV survives outside the body, with a link to additional information: https://h-i-v.net/forums/how-long-does-hiv-infect-blood-survive-on-surfaces-in-real-world-scenarios-nonsexual-non-drug-needles.
