What are some "standard" parts of life that aren’t so standard when living with HIV?

For some people, parts of life like donating blood, going on vacation, getting tattoos, or pursuing a romantic relationship can be quick decisions...with little to no precaution taken or research done beforehand. But for people living with HIV, these parts of life - and many others - aren't always so "standard." They involve careful preparation, research, talking to friends or family members, and consulting with doctor(s) to make sure safe, healthy decisions are made. What are some "standard" parts of your life that aren’t so standard? Today, what parts of life make you take extra precautions or involve extra preparation beforehand?

  1. Traveling with Rx drugs. I take a handful twice daily, mainly for heart issues and joint issues. 14 daily drugs. Traveling with pharmacy bottles instead of my weekly pill holder is truly a pain. Thus far, dating back to 1989, I haven't had issues traveling using counted out or pharmacy bottles.

    1. Hi . My wife has about the same number (not exactly sure of the total) due to a couple of autoimmune conditions. Some of the pills are pretty big so the major issue is a pill carrier that can hold everything. She found large ones that have individual days boxes (with day and night sections) that go into a larger box. They take up a decent amount of space, but still much easier than traveling with the bottles. I'm not 100% sure, but think this might be the one: https://auvonhealth.com/products/auvon-xl-weekly-pill-organizer-2-times-a-day-pill-box-7-day-with-one-side-large-opening-design. I don't know if something like this would work for you, but want to share the information. Best, Richard (Team Member)

  2. Over the years, I have collected an assortment of holders. It was so nice when my handful would fit in one of the smaller systems. I gave a few sizes away a few years ago, but had to purchase again when my Rx drugs changed and wouldn't fit. I think I have 5 or 6 sizes. Latest was one of the largest through Amazon.
