Do Testosterone shots help with erections?

  1. Hi . The impact of testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) can largely depend on the levels pre-therapy. I want to share with you this research article on testosterone replacement therapy among HIV-infected men: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4379711. It notes that "HIV is associated with testosterone deficiency in up to 70% of men, a finding that persists despite successful antiretroviral therapy (ART), and hypogonadism is expected to increase, as this population continues to age." The problem is that it also found that pre-TRT testosterone levels are often unknown before individual treatment is started, which means little is known about the overall effect of TRT on HIV positive men. The prominent takeaway is that it is important to work with a doctor to determine testosterone levels, whether treatment would be warranted, and continued monitoring if treatment is initiated. I know that this may not be a direct answer to question, but we are not medical professionals, so all I can do is provide the available information is scarce and requires working with a doctor. Wishing you the best. Richard (Team Member)
