  1. I'm glad you reached out because I can tell from your writing that you're dealing with a lot of anxiety and depression right now. Also, it gives me a chance to clear up misinformation about HIV transmission that is out there that can feed into this worry, and maybe helpful to others. It sounds like you are concerned about a deep kiss with someone and that you do not know if they are living with HIV or not (or if they are, you are not sure if they have a detectable viral load. PLHIV can reach an undetectable viral load in which HIV cannot be transmitted sexually - https://h-i-v.net/living/undetectable-untransmittable )

First of all, HIV is not transmitted through saliva. It can be transmitted through five bodily fluids including breast milk, blood, precum, semen, and vaginal secretions. You can learn more about the specifics which may ease your mind through this article: https://h-i-v.net/transmission .

Since you mentioned deportation, I also gather you're in a place that does not support people living with HIV (PLHIV) as they should be supported, and I imagine this is so scary. There are messages that you may have heard from others or from the media that can make it seem like people living with HIV are a threat to those around them, and this is a misconception that makes life incredibly difficult for those living with HIV - more on that here: https://h-i-v.net/?p=2683 - so I am so grateful you asked and started this conversation. I hope this helps to provide some clarity and ease your mind. - Liz (Team Member)

    1. Thank you very much for helping me . i can ease my mind a little. hopefully i can check my health asap .

      1. Glad to hear your mind is a little more at ease, ! Liz shared some great resources that will hopefully be helpful! In addition, I just wanted to mention that it's always a good idea to get any new or worsening symptoms checked out by a doctor, regardless of HIV concern. I know it may be a challenge to do this with your job, but things like fatigue, night sweats, and thrush can be signs of many different health conditions. They are also not fun to deal with! Getting a doctor's opinion and a medical exam can be helpful in getting to the underlying cause (and treating it quickly!). Please do keep us updated if you are able.
