Exposure risk

Hi y’all. On Sep 22 I was exposed to HIV. Oral with no condom and vaginal with condom.

On 27 Sep I had floaters and sensitivity to lights. It persists today. On Nov 2 I had temp, small mouth sores, headache and lesions on my face. This persisted for two weeks then thrush that has held on until now.

I am to be tested in the next couple of weeks. I have had all theses symptoms before except the floaters and decreased vision. Would HIV infection have ocular symptoms in 5 days? What other STDs would? If any?

Thank you for the conversation.

  1. Hi . It is good that you are scheduled for testing, as it is the only way to become sure of your status. Concerning eye issues, they generally are not listed as early stage HIV symptoms (see this article from our editorial team on early symptoms: https://h-i-v.net/symptoms/early-stage). I also want to share this article on ocular manifestations: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK441926/. I want to stress to you that we are not medical professionals and cannot offer medical advice or opinions on diagnostics. Hoping this information is helpful and others chime in with thoughts and please feel free to keep us posted on how you are doing and know that this community is here for you.
