Multiple HIV Tests After June Exposure – False Positive at Day 3, All Others Negative (Need Reassurance)

Hello everyone im live in france,

I’m very anxious about HIV and would like your advice. Here is my testing timeline:

June 9, 2024: Unprotected vaginal sex with one partner (only partner this year).

June 12 (Day 3): HIV ELISA 4th gen (Roche) → 1.12 (weak positive).

Confirmed immediately: Western Blot negative + HIV-1 RNA PCR negative.

June 20 (Day 11): ELISA 4th gen → 0.95 (borderline).

June 30 (Day 21): ELISA 4th gen → 0.69 (negative).

August 4 (Day 56): ELISA 4th gen → 0.39 (negative).

September 11 (Day 92, >3 months): ELISA 4th gen → 0.34 (negative, conclusive).

September 20 (Week 14): Rapid test Biosynex finger-prick → Negative.

My partner:

Rapid HIV test in July → Negative.

Later hospitalized for a urinary infection (drained), doctors said unrelated to HIV.

❓ My questions

Are my results definitive?

Was the June 12 (1.12) only a false positive?

With ELISA negative at Day 92 + rapid test negative, can I consider myself HIV negative?

Thank you 🙏

  1. Hi . I need to note that we are not medical professionals and, for your protection, cannot offer medical advice or provide diagnostics. I can tell you that false positives are possible. I want to share with you this article from our editorial team on home testing options: https://h-i-v.net/clinical/home-testing-options. Besides some information on false positives, it notes that "For the most reliable results, a person needs to have been infected for at least 3 months before testing themselves with the OraQuick test." Of course, to put your mind at ease it may be necessary to see a medical professional. Hope this information is helpful. Best, Richard (Team Member)
