Worried regarding HIV

My partner and I (both male) masturbated with another man who’s status is unknown. We made out and French-kissed mostly. This guy gave us both oral sex for a maximum of 10 seconds. The man never ejaculated.

3 days later me and my partner both started having body aches, scratchy throat and extreme fatigue which has been going on for about a week now.

I’m worried about HIV but also recognize that deep kisses and 10 secs of oral sex is considered low risk. Given the fact that me and my partner both are having similar symptoms, I’m hoping this is related to something else. Can someone talk some make sense out of this?

  1. Hi . I can see that you are anxious, but that you also understand the likelihood of some other cause for your symptoms. I need to note that we are not medical professionals and, for your protection, cannot give medical or diagnostic advice. I do want to share with you this article from our editorial team on differences in transmission risks: https://h-i-v.net/transmission-risks. You will see, as you noted, the extreme low-risk from receptive oral on average. I would also note that, while possible, initial symptoms for both you and your partner within three days would be rare. Also, the symptoms you note can have a myriad of potential causes. Of course, the only way to know for sure is through testing and this article discusses the different types of tests and the window periods: https://h-i-v.net/test-types. Hope this information is helpful and wishing you the best. Richard (Team Member)
