Would you know it if you got a small amount of blood in your eye?

I was starting to let go of the fear, but then my mom mentioned what if I rubbed my eye.
Now I'm questioning if really did rub my eye or not.

  1. Hi . It is clear that you are concerned that you may have come into contact with blood containing HIV and it is good that you are seeking reliable information. Just a little bit ago in a different post I shared with you some information on the fact that HIV does not survive for long outside of the human body. From what you said here it sounds like there would have been a transfer of blood from a person to a surface to your finger and then your eye - that is multiple transfers for a sample to be impacted. Also, I don't know specifics as to why you have concerns about particular blood having HIV, but estimates are that 0.3 to 0.4 percent of Americans have HIV, so the odds of a given sample of blood having HIV are low. I need to note that we are not medical professionals and, for your protection, cannot provide medical or diagnostic advice. The only way to be sure is through testing. This article from our editorial team gives an overview of the different types of tests, with information on their window periods: https://h-i-v.net/test-types. Wishing you the best.
