Being Diagnosed Was a Blessing for Me

On May 8th, 2014, I was diagnosed with HIV. I also had an 104.6 degree fever, double pneumonia, a bacterial infection, a fungus infection, and anemia.

I was told they were waiting for me at Southeast Medical Center because I needed a blood transfusion. My immune system was almost shut down and they were afraid that it would advance into AIDS.

Today, I'm undetectable and untransmittable.

Chilling on a sunny day doing what I do.

  1. Hi . First, let me say it is great to hear that you are now undetectable. While not always the case, plenty other community members have also said getting the diagnosis was a blessing. Several of our advocates shared their experiences here: https://h-i-v.net/answers/bedside-manner-diagnosis. Wishing you continued success. Best, Richard (Team Member)
