Testing

I had unprotected sex with someone I met online. Anal sex and I was the one inserting. The sex lasted for about 3 minutes.

I had a red urethra opening 1 week later and frequent urinations.

2 weeks later I have slight testicular pain.

I took a blood test and urine test at a lab week 1.

All STDs were negative and the HIV test was Antigen/antibody & 4th gen.

I took another test 15 days after exposure. The exact same test.

Both negative again.

I figured that if I had symptoms then the 4th gen should be able to pick it up by now?

(Also, I have IBS so it’s common for me to have diarrhea once or twice a week).

  1. Hi . It sounds like you are doing what you can to test and learn your status. I need to note that we are not medical professionals and, for your protection, cannot provide medical or diagnostic advice over the internet. I do want to share with you this article on HIV transmission risks, including for specific sexual acts: https://h-i-v.net/transmission-risks. Also, it seems you are pretty familiar with types of tests, but I want to share this article on types of tests, including window information: https://h-i-v.net/test-types. You did ask about early symptoms, so I want to share with you this article on symptoms, which includes information on the acute infection stage which can occur within two to four weeks: https://h-i-v.net/symptoms. Also, as a side note, I noticed that you mentioned IBS and want to let you know that we have a sister-site for that condition at https://irritablebowelsyndrome.net/. I hope this information is helpful and please know that this community is here for you. Best, Richard (Team Member)
