Meeting an app crush for the first time

As the headline states, I’m about a week out from meeting my crush for the first time. I’m nervous because he’s newly out, barely, without a lot of dating experience. on my end, there’s the whole status-disclosure thing, which is enough of a worry. but on top of that the “equipment” only works sporadically so that’s another “performance” stress layer on top of the already existing one.

maybe I’m worrying too much. he is a wonderful soul, kind and understanding, but he also “has needs” and is leaning more bottom (as am I). anyways, my goal for the first meet is to establish intimacy and see what the vibe is. have any of you been in similar situations and how did you handle it? ftr I was a 99% top before the equipment failure. thanks for any/all advice!

  1. , congratulations on soon meeting your crush for the first time! Meeting a crush can be scary and nerve wracking in any situation, add into that one of the couple being newly out and another worrying about status-disclosure and performance, it is understandable that you're feeling nervous. It sounds like he is a pretty amazing person, and I'm crossing my fingers that the two of you connect and feel comfortable communicating to each others feelings and needs. We have many community members who are in mixed-status relationships and I hope they can connect with you here an share any experience with you that might help ease some of your fears. In the meantime we have a lot of articles written about dating and I wanted to share this one with you about mixed-status couples, https://h-i-v.net/living/mixed-status-couples and this article one of our health leaders wrote about sharing her status with her partner, https://h-i-v.net/living/dating-negative-partner. Finally, this article has some helpful information about dating as well, https://h-i-v.net/dating. Hopefully these articles can help ease some of that nervousness, but also know that being nervous starting new relationship is a universal truth - you aren't alone! If you're comfortable sharing, please let us know how it goes. Sending good vibes in your direction for the meet up next week. -- Warmly, Christine (Team Member)
